Blackjack's a Big Hit

Hit me Baby!

It has nothing to do with Britney Spears nor does it have anything to do with fighting. Hitting is just one of the basic skills one must be familiar with if you want to beat Blackjack.

Who is Blackjack? It is not a question of "who" but rather of "what."

Blackjack is casino card game. If you have played it either on or offline, read and came across about the term itself, probably we don't have to spend much time discussing what it is. Nevertheless, for those who are not quite sure or totally alien to the game, blackjack is gambling card game.

One must have a card total of 21 in order retrieve back their waged bet. Regardless of suite: diamonds, clubs, hearts and spades, numbers printed on the cards are the ones you will add up (with exception on an ace).

For example, we get a 4 of spades and a 10 of hearts; therefore, we have cards whose total is 14. Then, the royalty cards: jack, queen and king are counted as ten. So from the previous example, if we asked for another card and unfortunately got a jack of diamonds, we went over 21! (14 + 10 = 24). In blackjack's lingo, if the card value exceeded 21 it is called a bust and definitely we lose.

Previously we mentioned something about the ace. Yes! It is counted as one. However, it also could be eleven. The former is called a hard hand, while the latter is called a soft hand. For example, we get a queen of clubs and an ace of diamonds absolutely we win. If these were your initial two cards, then it is said to be natural Blackjack.

What about Jokers? Traditionally jokers are not included in any blackjack game. However, the California-Style blackjack deviated from mainstream blackjack. It still follows the same rules but with some variations such as any card plus a joker will automatically make you a winner!

After the dealer has given us our initial cards, we could hit, stand or surrender. Our action will depend on the dealer's exposed card. Hitting literally means taking another card, we suggest this if we sense that we can have a total of 21 on the third card. On the other hand, standing denotes being contented with our initial cards. It is advisable if our cards are natural and or we have at least one joker.

Now that you understand the basic rules, try getting a "hit" out of this game!
